Responder: Basicamente, usted puede iniciar un proceso de transferencia. Al elegir la universidad donde planea continuar sus estudios, debe explorar la opción de estudiante de transferencia. Pongase en contacto con la oficina de admisiones de la institución y pida información adicional al respecto.

Pregunta: Buenos días, soy estudiante del primer año en una Universidad en Venezuela. Entre mis planes está culminar mis estudios en alguna Universidad en Estados Unidos. Me gustaría saber qué requisitos necesito, si puedo optar por alguna Universidad allá y si me cuentan las materias que he aprobado aquí.

Responder: PASO 1. Consulte con un Centro EducationUSA (usar el vínculo en la parte superior izquierda de este sitio).

PASO 2. Defina sus objetivos educativos y de carrera.

PASO 3. Determine si cumple con los requisitos de admisión.

PASO 4. Haga los arreglos para tomar los exámenes requeridos (TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT).

PASO 5. Evalúe sus finanzas.

PASO 6. Prepare su inscripción seleccionando de 10 a 15 universidades.

PASO 7. Escriba a la oficina de admisiones de la universidad que ha elegido para que le envíen los formularios de solicitud de admisión e información. Cuando le lleguen los formularios, debe llenarlos debidamente e incluir los ítems que le piden.

PASO 8. Si necesita ayuda financiera, empiece a buscar las fuentes.

Responder: Si usted tiene el titulo o diploma de bachiller otorgado por una institución o colegio acreditado en su país después de haber cursado 12 años, este le permite continuar sus estudios a nivel de pregrado sin tener que tomar el GED.

Responder: To be eligible for certification, applicants must be graduates from a medical school that meets the requirements described above, and fulfill the following additional medical education credential requirements:

oApplicants must have had at least four credit years (academic years for which credit has been given toward completion of the medical curriculum) ata medical school listed in IMED.

oThey must supply ECFMG with copies of their medical diploma, and ECFMG must receive verification of their diploma directly from their medical school. The exact name of the medical credential they must supply is listed in ECFMG’s Reference Guide for Medical Education Credentials, available on the ECFMG website (www.ecfmg.org).

Applicants for ECFMG certification must also pass the following exams:

oUSMLE Step 1 and Step 2. Applicants register for theses exams with ECFMG and take them worldwide at test centers of Prometric®, part of Thomson Corporation.

oTest of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL). Applicants register for the TOEFL exam with the Educational Testing Service (ETS®) and take the exam in Prometric test centers or certified testing centers (e.g. Binational Centers, Fulbright Commissions, etc.) worldwide.

oECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA®). Applicants register for the CSA with ECFMG and take it at one of ECFMG’s test centers in the United States. The CSA can be taken either before or after passing the USMLE Step 2, but candidates must pass the USMLE Step 1 and the TOEFL before taking the CSA.

Applying for ECFMG Certification

The certification process begins when applicants send your first exam application to ECFMG. Before applying for examination, applicants must read the appropriate edition of the ECFMG Information Booklets for Step 1, Step 2 and the CSA.

Both medical school students and graduates can begin the certification process. All of the required exams are offered continuously throughout the year. However, since one of the requirements for ECFMG certification is verification of the applicant’s medical diploma with their medical school, they can not complete the process until they graduate and receive their medical diploma.

There is not time limit fro completing the certification process. However, there are specific time requirements for completing certain exams for ECFMG certification, entry into graduate medical education programs and medical licensure.

The academic year for U.S. graduate medical education programs typically begins in July. Applicants must be certified by ECFM before their program’s start date, although they can apply to programs before becoming certified
